It's official. Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is working for President Obama again, but not in the Oval Office. Gibbs has taken on the role of surrogate and consultant for the president's re-election campaign.
A campaign official says that Gibbs has been helping out the campaign for months, and it's like he never left. Gibbs recently signed a formal contract.
The former White House Press Secretary has been on conference calls discussing the campaign with campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, campaign manager Jim Messina and White House adviser David Plouffe.
Gibbs left his role at the White House last year and was replaced by Jay Carney.
